Car Review: Aurion
Australia’s prominent motoring journal, wrote admiringly of the Aurion, “Toyota Aurion’s mile-eating comfort and luggage-swallowing capabilities are unsurpassed. Light, easy and breezy, the Aurion is a cinch to simply jump in and drive. The controls are straight forward, and there’s little you will need to familiarise yourself with. Steering requires little effort and acceleration is brisk – all of which makes darting around in the Aurion a stress-free experience. There’s plenty of sidewall to the 16-inch tyres and anything they don’t absorb, the suspension is more than compliant enough to handle.”
According to a Saud Bahwan Automotive spokesperson, “The Aurion’s performance, luxury and safety command respect. Now, the Aurion goes further, with newly-designed headlamps/rear combination lamps, front grille/ bumper and alloy wheels…making it the ‘new class of Toyota’.”
Undeniably, the fabric seat upholstery looks even more upscale. So does the new shade of the woodgrain panels; and the exterior colours – white pearl and grey metallic.
Innovative features also include a ‘navigation system’, ‘smart entry system’, start and stop engine switch, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, dual automatic independent control air conditioning, front corner /rear parking sensors. Further refinements appear in the form of a Bluetooth console, a premium 6-speaker audio system and a back-view monitor.
The Aurion’s dynamic V6 3.5-liter powerplant makes for a compelling performance. Fuel-efficient and naturally aspirated, the 24-valve system is mated with a sophisticated 6-speed sequential shift automatic transmission.
A high-end safety feature in the Aurion is its ‘adaptive front light system’, which aims the headlamps right (or) left in sync with the steering wheel angle & vehicle speed.
The Aurion also has a ‘brake assist system’ that augments the braking action, an ‘ABS system’ that prevents wheels from locking and a ‘VSC system’ that maintains stability – all housed in a special body-frame that absorbs the shock of impact.
The ‘dual-stage SRS system’ with two front, curtain and side airbags, further enhances Aurion’s safety.
