KnowledgeOman.com Youth Seminar Shares Tips on Success

Having a passion, setting specific achievable goals and following through them is a plan and skill-set that every youth needs to do in order to succeed, according to Oman’s talented youth, Ahmad Al Harthi and Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani speaking at the “Youth Leadership and Motivation” seminar held in the auditorium of the Middle East College of Information Technology, organized by KnowledgeOman.com.

“I studied finance and accounting but my passion was into racing. I developed and followed my passion to where I am today in the global map of sports driving. The secret lies in finding a passion and working hard towards achieving it” said Ahmad Al Harthi.

Ahmad Al Harthi is Oman’s top racing driver and one of the Middle Eastern Sultanate’s leading international sportsmen. His first car racing experience came in 2006 in the Bahrain based Thunder Arabia Championship where he broke new ground as the first Omani born driver to compete in single-seater racing. Finishing the season as Vice-Champion with two race wins and 10 podiums from 14 races, Al Harthy sought a fresh challenge for the following year and decided to pit himself against the best competition in Britain in the Formula Renault BARC Championship.

“Once you have a passion, you need to work towards a plan to achieve it. Otherwise all that you will have is only a dream. If you have not found a passion yet then keep looking and never stop trying new things until you get it if success is what you aspire for. Make sure you also explore different areas so that you complement your passion to its surroundings” said Tariq Al-Barwani, founder and president of KnowledgeOman.com

He attributes his projects’ excellence to experimenting and working in different jobs through-out his career. Despite being a computer scientist, Tariq has had the chance to work in IT, Education, Media Advertising and Telecom industries. His role included being a computer programmer, instructor, media commentator, TV and Radio editor and presenter and recently as a corporate communications manager. “Computer is my passion but challenging the status quo by trying new things that can complement my overall skill is what I enjoy most. I worked in different disciplines of the business and pleased to what I have learned as it helped me understand different parts of the business from finance, technical to commercial” noted Tariq

The seminar was concluded with a hands-on workshop on goal setting presented by Khalid AlRawahi, a trainer and coach with diverse academic experience as well as career backgrounds in both Engineering and Human Resources. The workshop focused on establishing a vision and achieving one’s goals.
