Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani, CEO and president of Knowledge Oman, the leading community and knowledge sharing initiative in the Sultanate, has been honored with the prestigious “Exemplary Leader Award” at the Global HR Excellence 2012 summit. Top entrepreneurs and professionals from 19 Asian countries including the Middle Est and Australia competed for these multi-category awards. The “Exemplary Leader Award” recognizes outstanding leaders around the world whom have demonstrated excellence in people and organizational leadership.

Tariq founded Knowledge Oman (www.knowledgeoman.com) as a community organization in 2008 and created a diverse team of local and expat community living in Oman who passionately work voluntarily together to promote knowledge across the Sultanate. In 2009, Knowledge Oman won the “International Standard Web Technology Award” for its website. In 2010, Knowledge Oman won “Brand Leadership Award" for its community initiatives. In March 2012, Knowledge Oman was awarded with the “Outstanding Contribution to Education” for its contribution to education. Tariq received 6 awards from Microsoft as the Most Valuable Professional “MVP” for his technical leadership since 2007 consecutively.
The Global HR Excellence Awards is an annual event that showcases the best and honors professionals globally for their contributions to helping the development of high-performing and productive workforce within their respective organizations. The evaluation process for the awards involved an initial screening by Academic Council, followed by Professional Council and a final live presentation before a jury of esteemed national and international professionals.The Award’s judges unanimously selected Tariq in view of his exceptional achievements in successfully creating and leading an innovative organization that impact a community difference in the Sultanate.
