Basma Al Said and Knowledge Oman Support International Volunteers project

Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Said officially signed the agreement of being the official patron for the International Volunteers Project that is supported by Knowledge Oman, the nation’s award winning volunteer and knowledge sharing organization in the Sultanate. A group of supporters of this initiative have attended the signing agreement.

Knowledge Oman has partnered recently to support an aspiring social entrepreneur Mohamed Al Touqi for his social enterprise project ‘International Volunteers’ that has been registered under the Social entrepreneurship development program of Knowledge Oman. The project is a unique and first-of-its-kind enterprise in Oman that aims to inspire and enable Omani volunteers to reach out to the people in need in impoverished communities across the world.

On this occasion, Sayyida Basma Al Said commented "it's a privilege to be an honoree supporter to such important initiative as voluntary work and the size of engaging in it is an indicator of progress and prosperity in any nation. Voluntary work involvement is a requirement of the contemporary life that brought rapid development in all fields".

"Encouraging voluntary work and community involvement initiatives through creating the right policies contributes in enhancing voluntary activities and recognizing the importance of the role of volunteerism in social and economic development of communities. These objectives can be achieved through effective partnerships between government and private organizations and individual volunteers, in addition to the contribution of journalists and media professionals, to promote voluntary work concepts in the community", she added.

Commenting on the importance of this agreement, Mohamed Al Touqi, founder of International Volunteers, said: " I am honored to get the support from H.E Basma Al Said and Knowledge Oman   in achieving my mission and goals through this initiative to guide volunteer work to fight poverty. I'm also grateful to everyone believed in my initiative and helped me to move it forward."
