Seminar on Budget Scrutiny for Media Professionals
In order to reinforce the media role on the importance of understanding the State Budget with a Human Rights approach, Tawasul is organizing a two-day seminar on Budget Scrutiny for Media Professionals to be conducted in Arabic and English. This is part of a series of seminars to be held by Tawasul during 2011 focusing on Human Rights.
The objective of this seminar is to provide senior media professionals with first-hand experience of the process of drafting and reviewing the state budget as well as scrutiny expertise.
This seminar targets chief editors, heads of local news and heads of the economic news section. At the end of this seminar, participants are expected to have been equipped with an enhanced understanding of the state budget role and functions in development, as well as scrutiny and analysis skills.
The seminar will be conducted by Mr. Hamad Musharrafi, who worked as Head of the Studies and Research Department at the Majlis a’Shura and participated in reviewing the draft state budgets in the Majlis since 2006. After he left the Majlis, he worked with Oman India Fertilizers Company and is currently the Project Manager of the Sharqiyah University. He holds an MA in Econometrics.
