KnowledgeOman.com, the leading community and knowledge-sharing platform, and Tawasul, the first national independent and professional not-for-profit Think Tank in Oman, have joined hands in partnership to generate further community outreach and spread knowledge across the country.
The KnowledgeOman.com team represented by Khalfan Al Mahrazy, Vice President, Rym Aoudia, Head of Corporate and Media Affairs, and Aysha Al Wahaibi, Project Manager, met with the Tawasul team at the Tawasul headquarters represented by Nasra Al Adawi, Chief Operations Officer, and Carolina Chiesa, Projects Officer, to discuss the mutual agreement, plans ahead, and sign the partnership.
“Reaching the community through various association is among the goals of KnowledgeOman.com set for this year, and we are pleased to welcome Tawasul on board as part of the initiatives”, said Tariq Al Barwani, Founder and President of KnowledgeOman.com.
As two of the leading community-driven initiatives in the Sultanate, the KnowledgeOman.com and Tawasul tie-up fosters the volunteer community to further engage with the civil society and to pave new opportunities of learning for more segments in the country.
Khalid Al Haribi, Managing Director of Tawasul, says, “We are very pleased with this cooperation between Tawasul as a Think-Tank that empowers civil society, and KO as a leading online community and social network platform. This is a positive step forward towards leveraging Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to engage our youth. Tawasul, launched in August 2008, is driven by its vision to be the primary and preferred catalyst for an effective and effecient civil society in Oman. Tawasul pursues its mission “to empower civil society institutions through training and knowledge” aided by home-grown partnerships and support, presenting Oman as a leading country in the field of societal solidarity and partnerships between the public sector, the private sector and the civil society organizations.
KnowledgeOman.com, established in April 2008, launched as a volunteer community initiative, connecting people to create, share and promote knowledge across the Sultanate. This includes creating an online bilingual platform for exchanging knowledge topics through the internet, organizing periodic educational seminars in the country, free bilingual e-learning courses, a community e-library, and collaborating with private and public entities to create community projects, among others. KnowledgeOman.com is driven by a team of professionals, academics and students, from different backgrounds and nationalities.
