Microsoft honors KO President with ‘Most Valuable Professional’ 2014 Award

Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani, Knowledge Oman founder and President, has received a token of appreciation, the ‘Most Valuable Professional’ 2014 Award, from the largest multinational IT company in the world, Microsoft. The annual prestigious award recognizes exceptional technology community leaders worldwide who actively share their high quality, real world expertise knowledge to the society. Each year, Microsoft rigorously evaluates the contributions of technical experts for quality, quantity, and level of impact on the society for the previous year. Tariq is the only person in Oman to receive the award consecutively since 2007

Tariq actively participated and supported Microsoft for the annual world’s premier student technology competition, Imagine Cup 2013, by assisting Microsoft in launching, interacting and engaging with students in Oman about the competition and their technology solutions. Tariq was selected among the local judges that reviews student submission in the Sultanate. Furthermore, Tariq assisted Microsoft to launch the 1st App Academy workshop that trained hundreds of experts from the industry and academia on how to develop mobile and tablet apps. Tariq regularly accepts invitations from colleges and universities in Muscat and Salalah to speak, present and share knowledge on latest IT developments and trends to the students and faculty members.
